Salehi converses with Brahimi on phone on latest developments in Syria

TEHRAN- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has expressed Iran's readiness to assist the UN Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi in his mission to restore stability and security in Syria.

In a phone conversation with Brahimi on Saturday evening dealt with the latest developments in Syria, Salehi said: " Iran is looking for a peaceful Syrian-Syrian solution away from the foreign interference."

For his part, Brahimi stressed the importance of Iran's positive role in Syria’s developments, saying the political approach to the crisis in Syria was the only solution to settle it.

The UN Envoy expressed hope that all concerned parties would cooperate to restore security and stability in Syria and peace in the region.

Brahimi also reiterated the need for enhancing consultations and continuing efforts to reach a peaceful solution for the crisis.
