Swimmer Nermin al-Jurdi set new record in Arab swimming championship in Jordan

LATTAKIA– Syrian swimmer Nermin Nidal al-Jurdi set a new record in Arab Swimming Championship in Jordan, finishing the 200-meter freestyle in 2 minutes and 18 seconds.

Secretary of the Technical Sub-committee for Swimming and Nermin's coach Adel Fattahi said that the new Syrian record crowned Nermin's participation in “Children of Asia” Games held in the Russian Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), breaking the previous record by the Syrian swimmer Lorana al-Yeghshi in 2005.

Syria's national team for swimming gained 23 medals in the 7th Arab Championship held in Jordan, ranking fourth in the list of participating teams.
