Terrorists assassinate Syrian film director Bassam Hussein
DAMASCUS– General Establishment of Cinema announced the death of the Syrian film director Bassam Mehi Eddin Hussein who was assassinated by armed terrorist groups near his home in Jdeidet Artouz in Damascus Countryside.
Bassam Mehi Eddin was born in Tartous in 1955. He held a Master's degree in Film and Television Directing from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Krastio Sarafov” in Sofia, Bulgaria. He worked for the General Establishment of Cinema since 1984. He was a member of Syrian Artisits' Union and a member of the Higher Council for Sponsoring Arts, Literature and Social Sciences.
He was famous for a number of films that gained popularity, the latest was the documentary film "The Echo of Civilizations" which shed light on the history of the most important archeological treasures of 34 civilizations in Syria.
