Nasrallah: Solidarity of Lebanon's Army,People and Resistance forms its strength

Nasrallah: Solidarity of Lebanon's Army,People and Resistance forms its strength

Damascus – Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah affirmed on Friday that the strong Lebanon has abandoned the saying "Lebanon's strength is in its weakness" and replaced it with the truth that Lebanon's strength is in the solidarity of its army, its people and its resistance.

In a speech during the opening of the Arab International Forum for Supporting the Resistance, Nasrallah pointed out that Lebanon managed to repel the Israeli invaders with the sacrifices of its people and its valiant resistance, forcing Israel to be wary of direct military confrontation with the resistance.

He noted that Israel admitted their defeat in May 25, 2000, and that the Lebanese and Palestinian national resistance forced Israel to build walls to insure its security, and that Israel waged its aggression on Lebanon in 2006 to eliminate the Lebanese resistance and reclaim its lost dignity, but the resistance prevailed and became stronger and what little of Israel's dignity was fully gone.

The Secretary General pointed out that, a few months after Israel's defeat in Lebanon, al-Aqsa Intifada took place, causing the leaders of Israel to talk about a "battle of existence" and to wish that Gaza would drown in the sea, but Gaza drowned them instead and they resorted to building walls in the West Bank to hide from the Palestinian resistance.

Nasrallah considered that the Tishreen War of Liberation in 1973 was a historical and important point in the struggle with the Israeli enemy, during which the Syrian and the Egyptian armies waged heroic and historic battles and put an end to the expansion of the Zionist project.

He stressed that the defeated Israel is going through a true crisis; a crisis of the project and the dream, of leadership, of the army that was believed invincible and was defeated by a group of resistance fighters, of trusting the system and institutions, and trusting the future, adding "Israel is attempting to mend all that today by beating the drums of war and issuing daily threats to Lebanon and Gaza and those who support them."

Nasrallah affirmed that the Israeli threats scare only the cowards and the defeated, saying that the nation overcame one of the most dangerous stages in the region's history, and that the resistance endured and achieved significant historic achievements.

The Secretary General warned against attempts targeting the resistance's will and credibility and the its people's trust in it, accusing the resistance of crimes that it denounces on every occasions, labeling it as terrorism or sectarianism, accusing it of promoting the culture of death, attempting to draw the resistance into internal conflicts, and claiming that the resistance is subject to regional countries, particularly Iran and Syria.

"Resistance movements in our countries are among the most honorable national movements in history and in the world," he said, noting that what makes the victories and achievements of the resistance so great is that they were achieved during the worst circumstances to befall the Arab nations and the worst international circumstances.

Nasrallah added that the choice of resistance is true, realistic, rational, logical and victorious, and that it needs political, media, moral, legal and financial support, calling upon freedom fighters and honorable people around the world to support the resistance in the face of psychological warfare being waged against it. He also denounced the actions of some mass media that employs considerable financial and technological resources to serve the war against the resistance.

The Secretary General concluded by affirming that no form of warfare will defeat the resistance, and that any future confrontation will Israel will lead to the defeat of the enemy and the failure of the Israeli goals, saying "we will make the great historic victory and change the face of the region… we are confident that the future in this area is the future of resistance, honor, dignity and freedom, while occupation, hegemony and arrogance will fade away."

Mishaal: Israel is the one who wages wars and commits crimesFor his part, Head of the Palestinian National Resistance Movement (Hamas) politburo Khaled Mishaal said that resistance is a legitimate right by all laws and legitimacies and the peoples' right to resist occupation is equal to their right to live and exist.

He added that this forum is being held to coincide with two aggressions and wars on Lebanon and Gaza and two anniversaries of victory, and the message of the forum is that resistance is not only the natural reaction against occupation, but it also can stand firm and achieve victory.

Mishaal underlined the necessity of achieving unity and Palestinian reconciliation and invited President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas to a bilateral meeting to deal with the Palestinian internal disagreements, welcoming any Arab role in this reconciliation.

He also said, "Israel is the one who wages wars and commits crimes, however, if war is imposed on us, then we will choose one choice which is steadfastness and fighting."

Mishaal poited out that Syria supported the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance and offered all sorts of political support to the Palestinian people, stressing the necessity of ending the Israeli siege over Gaza which is causing harsh suffering to the Palestinians and the death of hundreds of them.

Fakoush: Resistance is the path to peaceMember of the regional leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party Shahinaz Fakoush stressed that peace cannot be achieved in the region without the complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab lands and the return of the Syrian occupied Golan to Syrian sovereignty. She also said that Syria under the leadership pf President Bashar al-Assad considers resistance as a national duty, and that supporting resistance is a moral duty and peace and resistance are one pivot.

Fakoush made it clear that resistance is the path to peace, calling for raising generations on resistance culture and belief in the Arab identity.

She also called on Palestinians to adopt dialogue and unity as a national priority to help break the blockade of Gaza and stop the killing, siege and destruction caused by the Israeli occupation.

Fakoush said that the resistance in southern Lebanon and Gaza Strip changed the standards of strategic balance with Israel and that the resistance will always be the choice in the face of Israel's rejection of peace, affirming that Syria is committed to resistance.

For his part, head of the preparatory committee of the International Arab Forum for Supporting Resistance Khaled al-Sufiani stressed the importance of national resistance to wipe out the attempts of instilling the culture of defeat and subjugation to the Israeli dictations.

Al-Hoss: Patriotic peoples proved that they can stand in the face of aggressionFormer Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss affirmed that the will of patriotic peoples proved that they can stand in the face of aggression no matter how strong it may be, and that adhering to freedom is stronger than all capabilities.

He called on the Arab nation to focus on the Palestinian refugees' right to return to Palestine, and that the most important element for supporting the Palestinian cause is the unity of patriotic will and its support of the Palestinian national struggle, the right to return, applying decision number 194, canceling all settlements and restoring Jerusalem.

Al-Dhari: The resistance foiled the American plot to control IraqChairman of Association of Muslim Scholars Harith al-Dhari said that the Iraqi resistance's priority since the beginning of the occupation has been the liberation of Iraq, restoring its sovereignty whole, not being drawn into other conflicts, preserving the unity, identity, security, stability and resources of Iraq, and restoring it to its people to be an element of security and stability in the region.

He stressed that the resistance foiled the American plot to control Iraq, and that resistance is the correct and only way to liberate Iraq and save it from the unprecedented occupation, destruction and chaos it is suffering from, adding that all laws and legislations give the right to defend one's land and self.

Tajeddini: Resilience and resistance are the only way to restore just rightsIn a speech given on behalf of the Iranian President, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Mir Tajeddini said that the victories of the resistance prove Israel's inability to stand in the face of the will and determination of free people.

Tajeddini affirmed Iran's support of the just demands of oppressed peoples, particularly the Lebanese and Palestinian people, and that Iran will continue to support until victory.

He also affirmed that the experience of the resistance proved that the only way to restore just rights is resilience and resistance in the face of injustice.

A Syrian delegation and the Syrian Ambassador in Beirut Ali Abdul-Karim participated in the opening of the forum, which will last until January 17th.

The forum was organized by an initiative launched by the Arab Center for Communication and Solidarity, following up on several similar forums that began with the Jerusalem Forum in Istanbul in 2007, followed by the Right to Return Forum in Damascus in 2008, the Forum for Supporting Sudan in Khartoum in the spring of 2009, and the Golan Forum in the liberated city of Qunaitira in the fall of 2009.
