Iran reiterates criticism of some regional countries over supplying gunmen in Syria with weapons
TEHRAN- The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, reiterated Tehran's criticisms of some of the region's countries that are supplying the gunmen in Syria with weapons, stressing at the same time Iran's support to the plan of the UN envoy to resolve the crisis in Syria.
"Instead of stirring discord and pushing Syria to civil war, those countries should use their influence to create an atmosphere for dialogue between the government and the opposition," Mehmanparast said in an interview with the government-owned Iran newspaper published on Saturday.
He expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate with the other countries in the region for holding dialogue between the government and the opposition groups in Syria.
The Iranian official said that Tehran is ready to assume its role in restoring security and stability to Syria and avoiding having the crisis in it extended to the whole region.
