3rd Damascus International Wood Sculpture Forum kicks off

DAMASCUS– The third Damascus International Wood Sculpture Forum on Sunday kicked off under the title of "Syrian Creativity is Still Shining" with the participation of artists from seven foreign countries in addition to three Syrians.
Chairman of Fine Arts Directorate, Aktham Abdul Hamid, at the Ministry of Culture said in a press conference that the Forum includes artists from different cultures who came, prompted with love, to Syria to share the Syrian artists' creativity in carving on dry tree trunks, bringing it to life.
The 11-day Forum includes ten artists: Christina Iusiova from Bulgaria, Terry Laurs from Belgium, Orlando Erez from Portugal, Ivan Mapelnikov from Russia, Zhang Yong-Qing from China, Ludmila Mesco from Ukraine and Ginty Tavankcio from Albania, in addition to Aktham Abdul-Hamid, Mustafa Ali and Ibrahim Awwad from Syria.
Artist Mustafa Ali considered that the phenomenon of forums has had its long history, as the importance of which lies in creating dialogue among civilizations, adding that the diversity of materials, including stone, wood and iron, has its role in enriching experiences and inspecting new techniques.
