Annan : Solution and Future of Syria decided by Syrians, Parties concerned with Syrian issue should work for launching dialogue between Syrians
GENEVA_ U.N.-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria, Kifi Annan, has said the solution and future of Syria must be decided by the Syrian themselves.
" All governments and parties concerned with the crisis in Syria should exercise their influence properly to stop the violence and push the Syrians to sit to the dialogue table, " Annan told a press conference at the conclusion of Geneva meeting on Syria on Saturday.
" Our mission is to provide the right conditions for starting a dialogue between the Syrians, " he said, stressing that people whose hands are stained with blood are not in Syria only,"
" The UN observer mission is still in Syria and will continue its work when circumstances permit, " Annan said, emphasizing that he will visit Syria but he didn't set when.
Earlier, at the conclusion of Geneva meeting on Syria, Annan has said all parties have to comply with the cessation of violence.
He added only the Syrian people are meant with their aspirations which could be achieved through dialogue.
" We search for a political solution between the Syrians that realizes their ambitions," Annan said, adding that proper conditions for a political solution must be available immediately in Syria.
He stressed that all parties concerned with the Syrian issue have to seriously work for launching dialogue between the Syrians.
Annan said the solution in Syria requires the presence of a suitable environment of calm, guaranteeing the security of all and disarming the armed groups.
Annan: Geneva Meeting Should Meet Syrians' Interests, Not International Players' Interests
The Envoy Kofi Annan stressed that the results of Geneva meeting should be in the interests of the Syrian people not some international players.
The remarks came during Annan's speech at the first session of the international work group meeting on Syria in Geneva.
Annan added that the crisis in Syria has aggravated, calling on all sides to exert effort with the aim of reaching a solution for the crisis.
He underscored that the crisis in Syria could result in an international crisis, stressing that the Syrians only are responsible for settling the crisis in their country.
He stressed that the international community can play an effective role in solving the crisis in Syria if the international players managed to shorten the distance among their views.
