Iranian renews support to Annan Plan as the best way to resolve the issues in Syria

NEW YORK, UNITED NATIONS– the Ambassador of Iran to the UN, Mohammad Khazaee, reiterated his country's support to the UN Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan's plan, considering the plan as ' the best way to resolve the issues in Syria'.

In press statements here yesterday, dispatched by Reuters, Khazaee said that Iran was ready to help international envoy Kofi Annan's bid to bring peace to Syria, pointing out that the influence and constructive role of Iran 'cannot be ignored by anybody'.

''If some powers do not want to benefit from this influence and constructive role, that's their problem and this is another indication of actually neglecting the realities on the ground'' said the Ambassador, underscoring that "the solution is the cooperation among everybody.'

" From the beginning we have supported Mr. Kofi Annan's plan and we believe that that's the best way to resolve the issues in Syria. So any kind of consultations by Kofi Annan with the Islamic Republic of Iran is welcomed anytime," Ambassador Khazaee declared.

'' By not assisting foreign groups, opposition groups in Syria and by avoiding foreign intervention in Syria we believe that Syrian people will enjoy a better life and have reform smoothly in their country," Khazaee concluded.

Mehmanparast: Some Parties Seek to Undermine Resistance through Destabilizing Syria

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast stressed that dialogue is the only way to settle the crisis in Syria, adding that there are some parties which try to undermine the resistance in the region through destabilizing Syria.

In a statement to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Mehmanparast warned that the global domination system attempts to create a state of insecurity in Syria and stoke an internal war through arming some groups that serve its interests under the name of popular demands.

He stressed the need for halting all forms of violence in Syria to have the chance for conducting constructive talks and enhancing dialogue in peaceful atmosphere, describing the situation in Syria as "sensitive".

The Iranian official added that the Syrian people should not allow armed terrorist groups to shed their blood or escalate the situation in Syria and the region.

Mehmanparast hailed the Syrian government's practical steps to carry out reforms, adding that these procedures should help reach solutions to settle the crisis through dialogue among the government and the people away from tension.

He indicated to Iran's cooperation with Russia and China to achieve security and stability in Syria.
