Syria participated in 61st Olympic Council of Asia Executive Board meetings

DAMASCUS– Head of the General Sports Union, Mwafaq Jouma, represented Syria in the 61st Olympic Council of Asia Executive Board meeting convened in the city of Haiyang in China.
The Executive Board heard progress reports on the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2013 and the 17th Asian Games in 2014 scheduled to be held in Incheon, Korea , and the 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand, in 2014.
In a press statement, he hailed the Chinese government's efforts in preparing for the 3rd Asian Beach Games in Haiyang and making it a success.
On the other hand, Gen. Jouma and Secretary General of the Syrian Olympic Committee, Firas Moalla, held talks with chairmen of Arab and Asian committees to enhance joint cooperation in sports.
Regarding the media reports on preventing members of the national Olympic committees from getting entry visa to Britain to participate in London Olympics, He said that Syria addressed the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the International Olympic Committee to respect and consider terms of the contract signed with the hosting city and the Olympic Charter.
