Al-Moallem, Grandi review aspects of improving UNRWA work in Syria

DAMASCUS– Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem reviewed with Filippo Grandi, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), aspects of the agency's work in Syria and its humanitarian needs to help the Palestinian refugees.
Minister al-Moallem stressed that Syria will continue to provide all necessary aid to make its work a success in terms of its humanitarian mission in coordination with the Syrian authorities.
Al-Moallem added that the good treatment of the brotherly Palestinian refugees stemmed from the Syrian government and people's belief that the Palestinian cause is the cause of all Syrians.
In turn, Grandi said that the Palestinians in Syria receive the best treatment, stressing his keenness on focusing on this idea in the international meetings on the situation of the Palestinians over the world.
He added that his visit to Syria aimed at giving more attention to improve the Palestinians' situation through the UNRWA programs and the Syrian government's facilitations.
Later on, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad held talks with Grandi and the accompanying delegation on means of improving the UNRWA mission and increase its services to the Palestinian refugees in Syria.
Mikdad stressed the need for wide international support to their just cause and continuing providing humanitarian aid till their return to their homeland.
