Al-Attar awards Dr. Mohammad Mihfil the Syrian order of merit

DAMASCUS- Vice President Najah al-Attar on Wednesday awarded Historian Mohammad Mihfil the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent degree granted by President Bashar al-Assad in appreciation of Dr. Mihfil's important achievements in the Syrian and the Levant history studies.

President al-Assad issued a decree on June 5th offering Dr. Mihfil, the member in the Arabic Language Academy, the Syrian Order of Merit for his great achievements.

Dr. Attar said that President al-Assad's honoring of Dr. Mihfil is an honor for all those who worked and still work in the front of intellectuality, it is an honor and patronage for all educated, researchers and talented who deserve such tribute.

She referred to Dr. Mihfil's contributions to establishing the Arab History Writing Committee which focuses on the history of the Levant ( Bilad al-Sham ) and the Arab Nation.

Dr. Mihfil appreciated President al-Assad's noble gesture and his patronage of all intellectuals. Dr. Mohammad Mihfil was born in Aleppo, 1928. In 1953, he got a license in History.

In 1954 he was delegated to continue his studies at Sorbonne University in France.

He studied German, Greek and Aramaic languages and wrote a number of books like the History of the Romans and Entrance to Latin Language.
